The Incredible Transformation Of 258-Square-Foot Apartment

At only 258 square feet (24 square meters), this apartment hardly seems large enough to serve as a comfortable home, but Schallert did an amazing job of designing the space to feel like it is immensely bigger than the square footage would suggest. Architect Barbara Appolloni handled the transformation of the apartment, as mentioned in the description of the YouTube video below, but it was Schallert who determined the distinctive aesthetic of the apartment.

Tim Cook’s Reply to the FBI’s Demand to Create a Backdoor Into Apple Products.

Cory Schmit’s Camera Collection on MIT’s FOLD

A fun post from Cory Schmit that chronicles his camera collect, or at least every 35mm camera he’s owned over the past four years. Cory’s narrative is enhanced by incorporating background information directly into the story, that includes photos of the each device, the images that they capture and linked to additional information that helps to provide context, as if you’re having a conversation with Cory about his passion for film.

All this is possible through the unique capabilities of Fold, a news platform being developed by MIT Media Lab’s, that break down the user experience into a cross. The vertical bar is dedicated to the story itsel. This narrative is chunked into white blocks rather than paragraphs, but it’s otherwise your typical, narrative news story.

Gravitational Waves, Ripples in Spacetime, Detected for First Time

Long ago, deep in space, two massive black holes—the ultrastrong gravitational fields left behind by gigantic stars that collapsed to infinitesimal points—slowly drew together. The stellar ghosts spiraled ever closer, until, about 1.3 billion years ago, they whirled about each other at half the speed of light and finally merged. The collision sent a shudder through the universe: ripples in the fabric of space and time called gravitational waves. Five months ago, they washed past Earth. And, for the first time, physicists detected the waves, fulfilling a 4-decade quest and opening new eyes on the heavens.
