The Incredible Transformation Of 258-Square-Foot Apartment

At only 258 square feet (24 square meters), this apartment hardly seems large enough to serve as a comfortable home, but Schallert did an amazing job of designing the space to feel like it is immensely bigger than the square footage would suggest. Architect Barbara Appolloni handled the transformation of the apartment, as mentioned in the description of the YouTube video below, but it was Schallert who determined the distinctive aesthetic of the apartment.

Write a Thank You Note Each a Day

christopherpollard_write-a-thankyou_flaire_20160210

I learned today that Mark Zuckerberg writes at least one, well-considered thank-you note each day, via e-mail or handwritten. And, it makes sense when you consider that Facebook wouldn’t be the company that it is today without the hard work and dedication of so many people.

The funny thing is that I started 2016 with the same resolution. Sure, I didn’t create Facebook. But, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without the contribution of others.

I’m fortunate to have a rockstar of a daughter, a loving family, silly animals and solid friends.

I call Minnesota home, an amazing place to live…for real.

I’ve experienced more than I could imagine (the Pixies concert in Chicago, a contemplative visit to Robben Island and cheering QPR to victory over Chelsea at Loftus Road, just to name a few).

Sure, I’ve also had my share of struggles and I’m grateful for the grace of those who have helped me along the way.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many wicked smart folks, inspired by their dedication. And, I practice my craft in a field that I thoroughly enjoy.

So, being thankful is the least I can do.

Minnesota Keeps Moving When It Snows

“There is a feeling of solidarity that swirls in the blowing snow. When I shoveled the walk this morning, I noticed my neighbor had already done part of it. I looked down the street and saw other people shoveling. As they looked up from their work, we smiled and nodded at each other. It felt like we were engaged in common work.”
